Councillor Says Garda Scandal Affecting Local Gardai

The Justice Minister is currently briefing cabinet colleagues on the scope for an independent review of An Garda Siochana.

The need of a review of the force has become apparent after a number of controversies have come to light in the last number of weeks.

It comes as one local representative says the controversy is having an impact on the ground.

These include the exaggerated breathalyzer numbers, the treatment of whistleblowers and unusual accounting practices at the Garda Training College in Templemore.
