A Sixmilebridge Councillor says turning the power station in Ardnacrusha into a tourist attraction would be a fitting way to recognise the achievement of those who built it.

PJ Ryan wants the local authority to work with Clare Tourism and the ESB, claiming there is an opportunity to turn it into a landmark for visitors, similar to the the Hoover Dam in the US.
The Hydro-electric station was open to the public until the 1970s before it was closed for security reasons.
However, Councillor Ryan claims it would still attract many visitors if it re-opened.
