Councillor Claims Dog Owners Are Ignoring Fouling Bye-Laws In Lahinch

It’s claimed dog walkers in Lahinch are ignoring the dog fouling bye-laws there, despite the threat of a €3,000 fine.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Bill Slattery is calling on Clare County Council to become more strict in enforcing the laws introduced a number of years ago.

He says people have been complaining that the level of dog excrement along the promenade in the seaside town is on the up and that it’s a disgusting issue.

The local authority says education programmes are in place and where laws need to be enforced they will be, but Cllr Slattery says it’s not a pleasant situation for those living in the town.
