The school teacher from Meelick was first elected to Clare County Council in 2004 and is the youngest person to hold the honour in almost a century.
At the Council’s AGM in Ennis this afternoon, he was supported by his Fianna Fàil colleagues, and also the Fine Gael and Technical Group members of the local authority, after the groupings agreed a power-sharing pact for the upcoming five-year Council term.
There was also unanimous support for Cllr Crowe’s Fianna Fáil colleague Clare Colleran Molloy as she was elected as Deputy Mayor of Clare.
