Council willing to meet over Doonbeg Pier development

Clare County Council says it’s willing to meet with community representatives who are calling on the local authority to kick-start the development of a new pier in Doonbeg.

Residents in the West Clare village want the Council to fund an Environment Impact Study required by An Bord Pleanala as part of the planning process.

It’s estimated this would cost between forty and fifty thousand euro, but senior Council officials say the money isn’t there.

PRO of the Doonbeg Fisherman’s Association Tommy Commerford says a small investment would allow the development to go ahead.
