Council Urges Public To Follow Safety Advice For Storm Fergus

Clare County Council is urging the public to follow its recommended safety advice for Storm Fergus.

From 2pm a Status Yellow Wind Warning will come into effect and from 3pm this will upgrade to a severe Status Orange alert which will remain in place until 8pm.

Met Eireann is warning that the potential impacts of Storm Fergus could include wave overtopping, creating both localised and coastal flooding.

Hazardous travelling conditions are also expected for road users and pedestrians alike due to fallen trees, debris and loose objects becoming displaced.

Motorists are also being reminded never to drive through flooded roads as the depth of the water can be deceiving.

People are advised to prepare for the arrival of the storm by ensuring their mobile phone is fully charged to enable communication.

Business owners, caravan parks, homeowners are advised that caravans should be securely tied down and any street furniture should be taken indoors or fully secured.

Essential travel only is advised for the duration of the storm and Clare County Council says it will be constantly monitoring the situation.
