Clare County Council could take legal action against consultants who advised the local authority in the construction of the former county landfill at Ballyduffbeg in Inagh.

It follows last month’s court case in which the Council pleaded guilty to one charge and was fined for odours at the site on a date in August 2007.
While the Inagh landfill has since closed due to economic reasons, the Council faces years of maintenance bills. Last night, local representatives called for legal proceedings to begin.
