Clare County Council is being urged to use the stick as well as the carrot as a means of clamping down on dog fouling.
A total of 24 complaints have been made in Clare in relation to dog fouling so far this year.

The local authority claims it’s “committed to addressing the issue of dog fouling through a combination of education, enforcement, infrastructure, and community partnership”.
Doonbeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Rita McInerney believes fines should be doled out more liberally.
