Council To Honour West Clare Gaeilgeoir

West Clare could soon play host to a Summer School established in honour of noted Gaeilgeoir, Anrai De Blac.

Henry Blake, as he was known in English, was a Kilbaha native born in 1884 and became a champion of the Irish Language.

The West Clare man was one of the last surviving native Irish speakers in the area and passed away in 1974.

Clare County Council have backed the idea to honour him at their recent meeting, an honour that Kilrush Fine Gael Councillor Gabriel Keating feels he deserves.
