Clare County Council is to hold an emergency meeting this Friday, following on from the flooding issues along much of the county’s coastline.
The Council is preparing a report for government to estimate the bill of the required works here, and local representatives are hopeful they’ll be given an indication of the final figure later this week. M
eanwhile, the European Union has been asked to consider releasing funds to help in the recovery of communities in Clare and elsewhere, devastated by the stormy weather.
€500m is set aside for the European Union Solidarity Fund, and Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen is among those who have written to the EU Regional Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn to request an urgent meeting allowing for some of the monies to be used here.
