Welcoming today’s report Clare County Council said it was satisfied the consultants took on board its submission that Shannon Airport and the surrounding landbank be separated from the DAA and placed under the ownership of local public agencies.

In a statement the local authority added that the review highlighted the fact the current model isn’t operating satisfactorily and wont secure the optimum development of the airport as a strategic asset for the region.
The county manager says the local authority will consider the full contents of the report and co-operate with the Transport Minister with a view to securing the future viability of Shannon Airport and its assets.
