Council Says Views On Ennis Pedestrianisation An Important Process For Future Planning

Clare County County says gaining insight into people’s views on the pedestrianisation of Ennis was an important process, as part of transport planning for the town in the future.

A survey undertaken by Clare County Council, which received nearly 1,800 responses has found that mre than 7 in 10 people in Ennis would like to see ‘immediate’ pedestrianisation measures in the town.

Just over 20 percent of those asked are in favour of the move in the medium to long term, dependent on the provision of new infrastructure and services, while only 8.5 percent of respondents indicated they did NOT favour any form of pedestriansation in the town.

Senior Executive Officer of the Ennis Municipal District, Leonore O’Neill has been telling Clare FMs Fiona Cahill that the local authority has been working closely with the NTA on developing a mobility plan for Ennis and that this survey was an important step to carry out as part of that process.
