Clare County Council says it needs a funding commitment from Government to complete the transfer of Shannon Heritage’s sites to its operation.
Last evening’s monthly meeting of Councillors heard how national funding is needed by the local authority to manage staff costs, capital refurbishments and conservation works.
It’s after Taoiseach Micheal Martin told the Dail last week the Council needed to ‘get on with’ the process of acquiring the operation of Knappgoue Castle, Craggaunowen and Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.
Council CEO Pat Dowling told the meeting that he’s hopeful of the transfer being completed before September.
Sixmilebridge-based Fianna Fail Councillor Alan O’ Callaghan says the amount of money needed by the local authority will be into the millions.
