The local authority says significant progress has been made over the past two years with the delivery of over 1300 units through leasing, construction and the refurbishment of old housing stock.
While, 47 new units have been approved by the Housing Department in 2016, with an estimated budget of 10.8 million euro.
It follows concerns by Newmarket on Fergus Councillor Pat McMahon, who says people are frustrated with the slow rate of progress in dealing with the county's social housing list
