Council Says Efforts Made To Ease Landowners’ Greenway Concerns

Clare County Council insists that efforts are being made to facilitate landowner’s concerns over the development of a Greenway route here.

The ICSA insists that the country’s Greenway cycle plan cannot be implemented without proper consultation with landowners.

Seamus Sherlock claims routes were designed without any understanding of how the process might interfere with ordinary farmers on the ground and told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that disruption must be kept to a minimum.

A Greenway is planned along the old West Clare Railway and will cover a 42 kilometre route between Ennis and Lahinch.

Clare County Council is reassuring that a consultation process is underway, and that so far, a quarter of landowners have engaged in one on one meetings but that more work has yet to be done.
