Clare County Council says a 20 thousand euro marketing fund aimed at helping businesses in the market area of Ennis won't be expanded.
For several months now, construction has been taking place on a new Council-funded covered market, but traders say this has decimated their business, with some cutting staff as a result.
The Council has rejected calls for a rates rebate for businesses affected, but has offered 20 thousand euro towards a marketing campaign aimed at promoting the area when the works are complete.
The latest in a series of meetings on the matter takes place this morning, with the Council set to hold talks with businesses in the Market and ahead of those talks Interim CEO Ger Dollard says calls to expand the marketing fund won't be heeded.
