Hopes that LATE water restrictions could be imposed in the Ennis and Shannon areas for the New Year’s Eve festivities have been dashed .
Clare County Council says the demand is still exceeding supply capacity on most water supplies and it means the 8 pm shut-offs imposed last night will be repeated again tonight .
However there’s better news for party goers in North , South and South East Clare with the restrictions not set to take effect until after 11pm

There’s further bad news for water consumers experiencing ongoing difficulties with their supply as the Council estimates the problems could be in place for at least a further week.
WATER RESTRICTIONS FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE DEC 31ST.
8 PM until 8 AM
Doora, Barefield, Crusheen, Lahinch Road, Shanaway Road. Clare Road(area around St Flannan’s College) Tulla Road including Spancilhill Group Water Scheme and Gort Road, Quin Road (from Railway Bridge out.
Shannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Kilmurray, Kilkishen, Bunratty, Cratloe, Quin and Tulla .
However there will be later shut offs in parts of South East and East Clare – with restrictions of 11-00 to 10 am in Scarriff, Tuamgraney, O’Briensbridge, Clonlara, Broadford, Shannon Banks, Westbury, Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Carraig Midhe, Coolisteigue- the restrictions in these areas will take place from 11.00pm to 10.00am.
and along with Ennistymon and Lahinch – there will be 11.30 pm shut offs in New Quay, Corofin, Ruan, Liscannor, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin and Fanore with water set to be restored at 8.00am.

Meanwhile the council estimates that around 12 hundred people are having ongoing difficulties with their supply – many with little or no supply at all for the past few days and weeks – and unfortunately the council says that this situation could continue for another week or so.
While the restrictions are ongoing – so too will the supply of water though tankers and stand pipes ..
