The local authority has been called on to go further in its review of the impact of short-term lets on Clare’s housing market.

Clare County Council has set out plans to undertake a full analysis of the effects of an oversaturation of short-term lets on this county’s tourism hot-spots pending the publication of Census 2022 data.

The draft County Development Plan includes a policy that would only permit new residential developments for permanent occupancy in areas that have been identified as having an overconcentration of holiday homes, including; Ballyvaughan, Bellharbour, Bunratty, Carrigaholt, Doolin, Doonbeg, Fanore, Kilkee, Lahinch, Liscannor, Mountshannon, Querrin and Spanish Point.
