Clare County Council is defending itself against claims of a lack of spending on traveller accommodation in the county.
The Local Authority has been accused in the Dail of using none of the money allocated to it to provide housing for members of the travelling community this year.
During a Dail discussion Ruth Coppinger highlighted what she called a low level of spending by local authorities around the country on traveller accommodation.
The Anti-Austerity Alliance TD gave particular mention to Clare County Council, who she said had spent none of the 200,000 euro that had been granted to it by central government.
However, the Local Authority is denying any lack of investment in housing for travellers here.
In a statement to Clare FM, the Council says it has spent some 250,000 euro on the management and maintenance of Traveller Specific Accommodation this year.
The Council claim the 200,000 referred to by Deputy Coppinger is specifically for use to built a new group housing scheme at Ballaghboy, Ennis.
It's expected that 30,000 euro of this will be spent before the end of the year, with the remainder being used during the course of 2017.
The new housing scheme, which is currently in the design phase, is expected to be completed in 2018.
