Council Refuses Plans For Kilkee Communications Tower Over Scenery Concerns

Plans for a telecommunications tower aiming to address coverage deficiencies along the N67 in West Clare have been refused.

Galway based Icon Tower LTD lodged plans for an 18m tower at Corbally, Kilkee in June.

In documents submitted to Clare County Council, the company stated the infrastructure would have initially provided broadband coverage for Three, but could be used by more operators in the future.

Although the development received objections, planning permission was refused by the local authority over concerns it would case a visual obstruction on a scenic route.
