The local authority’s unaudited financial statement for last year shows the Council received state funding of 66.8 million euro, and that considerable cutbacks have been made in spending – spending on wages fell by 1.3 million euro, but still stands at 40 million euro.
Meanwhile, despite the ongoing economic crisis and an increase in uncollected rates, last year saw a 10% increase in the level of rates collected – the overall figure stands at 34.5 million euro.
