Clare Councillors have agreed to re-zone land for a new €40 million data centre on the outskirts of Ennis.
Local representatives agreed to amend the county development plan, to assist with the previously announced development on a 51 hectare site close to the Tulla Road junction of the M18 motorway.

The Council has previously estimated that the site will support 1,100 direct and indirect jobs, and has hailed it as a ‘game changer’ for Ennis and Clare.
A previous planned data centre which tech giant Apple was to develop in Athenry was de-railed after it was delayed in the planning process, and Council Director of Service Liam Conneely hopes this will avoid a repeat here.
