It’s hoped that Council buildings across Clare could provide the solution to policing rural communities under threat of losing their local garda station.
There are fears up to half a dozen stations across the county – could face closure as public sector retirements take their toll on local policing resources.
In recent months the Chief Superintendent has pledged to redeploy gardaí or to ensure that gardaí would maintain a presence in rural areas in their cars and may even attend local community centres or businesses where stations are forced to close.
