The Council of Europe will issue its ruling on Ireland's laws governing smacking children today.

The body has been investigating whether our legislation is in breach of the European Social Charter following a complaint.
As it stands, parents can defend the use of physical chastisement against their children in court.
It's expected the Council will find against Ireland.
