Council Issues Boil Notice Warning

A Boil Notice is in place for water consumers in the Spancilhill and Clooney areas due to contamination of the local supply.

The health warning, issued by Clare County Council following consultation with the HSE, affects householders living in the area between the Tulla Road entrance to the M18 and Clooney Church where consumers are being advised that the water supply is contaminated with coliform bacteria.

Further test results are expected this morning and though the water supplied to the group water scheme comes from the main Ennis supply in Drumcliffe, it’s believed to be a local problem detected in samples taken in Clooney.

As a precautionary measure, all users on the Spancilhill/Clooney group water scheme are being warned to boil water before consumption.
