Clare County Council is hoping for an uptick in over-the-shop applications for vacant property grants, following the success the grant has seen in rural areas.
The county has recently surpassed €20 million of grants being awarded, with west Clare seeing the highest volume of applications.

At present just under 300 of the 500 proposals are for the renovation of buildings in rural areas.
Clare’s Vacant Homes Officer, Carmel Greene, says the grant is revitalising areas that have seen a decline in population in recent years.
