Council Hopes NRA Will Respond Well To Future Motorway Crises

Clare County Council’s senior roads engineer says he hopes the NRA’s taking over of Ireland’s motorway network will lead to a better response in the event of an emergency.

Tom Tiernan’s comments came after Councillors backed calls for an emergency response system in light of an event similar to a major oil spill in February, which closed part of the N18 and saw thousands of motorists caught up in traffic jams, some for up to six hours.
