Clare County Council is encouraging visitors to Clare beaches not to litter over the bank holiday weekend.

It has been acknowledged that littering on beaches is more commonplace in hot weather with the incorrect disposal of cigarette butts identified as a particular concern.

Clare currently has nine Blue Flag and four Green Coast beaches – each one equipped with rubbish and recycling facilities.

Clare County Council’s Environmental Awareness Officer Karen Foley is calling on beach-goers to either dispose of their waste or take it with them.
