Clare County Council has insisted that new figures suggesting it has a low social media presence are not accurate.

A national report looking at local authorities had stated that Clare's local authority had fewer social media followers than any other Council in Ireland in 2015.
However, Clare's Council says the figures have focussed only on its twitter account for a five-week period at the end of last year, and that it has ramped this up this year.
The local authority says that its social media accounts now have a combined following that is bigger than the population of the county.
