Clare Councillors will today debate a motion which calls on the Transport Minister to appoint a new chairperson to Shannon Group, and to restructure its board.

It’s three weeks now since the Minsiter Eamon Ryan pulled the appointment of Aaron Forde from the role, and since then MidWest Oireachtas members have urged him to engage with them in finding a candidate.

Today, local represenatives will add their voices to the debate, with this afternoon’s monthly Council meeting saying a new Chairperson needs to be appointed, to ensure Shannon and Clare are ready and open for business when world travel and tourism return to normal.
