Clare County Council is considering rolling out a “deposit-return or reward-based” scheme to incentivise the proper disposal of vapes across the county.
It follows a call from Doonbeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Rita McInerney for the measure along with the installation of designated bins for vapes in towns and villages countywide.

The local authority has pledged to write to the Regional Waste Management Planning Office requesting a discussion on the matter.
Councillor McInerney says there could be a financial incentive for those who participate in the scheme.
