Clare County Council has confirmed its plans to deal with long-standing traffic problems at Blake's Corner.
The proposed solution involves the construction of a new bridge, but subject to national funding, while a number of homes and a business will be removed.
This proposed solution to traffic problems at the notorious blackspot is in line with the Council's previous plans.
A new bridge would be constructed approximately 80m upstream from the existing Ennistymon Bridge on the N67, and would initially be used for Lahinch-bound traffic.
Traffic coming from Lahinch would continue to use the existing bridge.
A number of homes and a business will have to be knocked to facilitate the construction of the new bridge, and the Council has already told those affected that this will be the case.
Many of those have already been critical of the project.
The Council says it will continue to liaise with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, formerly the NRA, in the hope of moving into a formal planning process but as national funding is required, no formal timeline for the project has been outlined.
