Clare County Council has confirmed it’s submitted an application to the Department of Housing to extend the Defective Concrete Block Scheme to this county.
It comes as Clare homeowners affected by pyrite continue to attempt to be included in some form of redress, with around 50 homes and two housing estates here estimated to be affected by the mineral.
Housing Minister Darragh O Brien had previously committed to meeting residents once the application to be included in the scheme, which as of now only includes Mayo and Donegal, was lodged by the Council.
Dr Martina Cleary, head of the Clare Pyrite Action Group, is calling on this county’s Oireachtas members to do everything in their power to ensure affected homeowners aren’t ignored.
