The Transport Minister has offered Clare County Council an opportunity to formally have it’s say on the future make-up of Shannon Airport.
Minister Leo Varadkar met with local representatives and council officials in Dublin last evening, and a formal mechanism has been put in place which will see the Council have it’s say.
While it has not been granted a place on the steering group or task forces established to oversee the transition of Shannon to a fully independent airport, the county manager and Mayor will meet with the chairpersons of the various groups at a regular basis.
The delegation was led by Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Daly, who has described the meeting as very positive.
