Clare County Council will write to the Justice Minister and Garda Commissioner to seek an urgent revision of local policing.
It follows a cross-party motion put forward by seven councillors at the monthly meeting of the local authority, which claims constituents are feeling vulnerable due to a lack of Gardaí on the ground.
Currently there are 306 Gardaí serving in this county, which is twenty-four below the national average.
Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn says there is a complete lack of confidence in local communities.
