Clare County Council is being called on to issue notices to businesses in the hospitality sector, asking them to ensure access for pedestrians with disability, and mobility issues.
Despite raising concerns when outdoor dining was first permitted last month, Clare PPN, and Clare Leader Forum, say they’re receiving a large volume of calls from people with disabilities in recent weeks, who have been experiencing difficulties due to the placement of street furniture.
They’re calling on the local authority to provide a breakdown of the regulations regarding street furniture for the purposes of outdoor dining, and an outline of measures being taken to ensure compliance.
Communications And Ad-vocacy Officer with Clare Leader Forum, Anne Marie Flanagan, says accessibility issues are having a big impact on many people.
