Council And Residents To Meet Following Carrickmines Fire

Talks are to take place today between council officials in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and residents objecting to travellers moving into their area.

The group is being offered temporary accommodation after a fire which killed 10 people at their halting site on Glenamuck Road in Carrickmines last weekend.

However people living on nearby Rockville Drive yesterday blocked diggers from accessing the proposed site.

This local woman has been living in the area for over 40 years.

She told our reporter her heart goes out to the victims of the fire but she feels the council's plan is unsuitable.
