Suspension Of Rents Must Be Introduced To Prevent “Legacy Of Debt” – Novas

Voluntary housing agency Novas says it’s critical that the government looks at measures like the suspension of rent payments so that tenants aren’t left with a legacy of debt once the crisis abates.

At present, a measure has already been introduced whereby tenants cannot be evicted for the duration of the crisis, nor can rent be increased.

The Government says tenants will be expected to pay rent during this period and that income supports and Rent Supplement are available to those struggling to do so.
