Slight Rise Of COVID Incidence In Shannon With Drops In East & West Of County

There’s been a rise in the incidence of COVID-19 in the Shannon area this week, though incidence of the virus has fallen in East & West Clare.

It comes as three of this county’s five electoral areas recorded less than five cases of the virus in the past fortnight.

The highest incidence of COVID-19 in Clare is now in Shannon, with 21 cases confirmed there in the two weeks up to this past Monday leaving its rate per 100,000 people standing at 69.1.

The Ennis electoral area is only slightly behind, at 67.9, with its 21 cases there in the same 14 day period broadly in line with the number of cases seen there over the past month or so.

All other regions in Clare, the Ennistymon, Kilrush and Killaloe electoral areas – have recorded less than five cases in the last fortnight.

It means that less than 50 cases have been recorded in Clare over the past 14 days once again.

This county’s incidence rate now stands at 40.4 per 100,000 people after fewer than five cases were confirmed here again last night – the fourth lowest in the country.
