The COVID-19 pandemic has led to slow down the rate of State-supported housing adaptation works.

Under the suite of Housing Adaptation Grants to support older people and people with a disability, grants totaling almost €2.4 million euro were allocated by government last year to partly cover the cost of works carried out in peoples’ homes.

In the first eight months of this year, however, this amount had slumped to €666,000, a trend which is repeated throughout Ireland.

Last month, the government announced an allocation of €2.22 million euro for these works in 2020, including a 20% contribution by the County Council.
