Shannon Only Area Of Clare To See Covid Increase This Week

Shannon is the only one of Clare’s five electoral areas to see an increase in COVID-19 incidence in the past week.

Health Protection Surveillance Centre data shows 357 cases were diagnosed in this county up to this past Monday.

New cases in Shannon have increased by a third this week, with 113 people diagnosed with COVID-19 there in the 14 days up to Monday.

 

Its incidence rate is at 371.7 per 100,000 people and is the only area of Clare to see a jump.

North Clare though has the highest incidence in the county at 396.1 after 65 new cases were reported there in the same timeframe.

55 new cases in the Killaloe electoral area see its rate stand at 273.5, after it had seen the highest rate in the county just two weeks ago.

Despite 81 new cases in Ennis its figure is the second lowest here given its high population.

Its number is at 262.1 and is also falling week-on-week.

West Clare and the Kilrush electoral area remains the lowest in the county as it has for a number of weeks.

43 new cases there see its rate sit at 204.8 per 100,000 people.
