Number Claiming Pandemic Unemployment Payment In Clare Increases For First Time Since May

The number of people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment in Clare has increased for the first time since the beginning of May.

There are now more than 4,500 people relying on the state support in this county.

An additional 63 people will be receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment in Clare today, bringing to 4,512 the number of people replying on the state support in this county.

They’re among over 200,000 across the country who will receive a portion of the 62 million euro being paid out today.

It’s the first time since the first week of May that the numbers claiming the payment have increased.

Nationally, more than 19,000 people have applied for the payment in the last seven days, after Covid restrictions were strengthened in Donegal and before that Dublin.

Over 8,600 people across the country have closed their claims in the past week, with 6,309 reporting they were going back to work.

In Clare, 174 people closed their payment to return to work.

Meanwhile, the number of people throughout Clare who are medically certified for receipt of the 350 euro Enhanced Illness Benefit has increased to 1,189.
