The Pandemic Unemployment Payment was closed to new applicants from the 8th of July this year.

However, as a result of new restrictions being imposed from today on the hospitality sector, applications are being reopened from this morning.

Five levels of payment ranging between 150 and 350 euro will be available depending on what someone earned before they lost their job.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Protection has confirmed 278 people in Clare who were previously claiming the PUP applied for Jobseeker’s Benefit after July 8th.

A further 119 people from this county applied for a Jobseeker’s Allowance claim having availed of the PUP prior to that.

The Department last released the weekly number of PUP claimants a month ago – back then it stood at 1,735 people in this county.

Around nine billion euro has been paid out in total in the Pandemic Unemployment Payment to date.

Those who apply from today will receive their first PUP payments on the 14th of December.
