Mayor Of Clare Urges People To Abide By Level 5 Restrictions

Level 5 restrictions are now in place nationwide in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The restrictions will be in place for six weeks – with people not allowed to travel five kilometres from their home apart from specific reasons.

All non-essential retail is closed, pubs, restaurants and cafes are takeaway only but schools, creches and construction are staying open.

The Mayor of Clare is urging people in the Banner county to abide by the public health advice and remain resilient.

Councillor Mary Howard says it’s also important that we look out for each other.

The national 14-day incidence rate of COVID-19 is now 291 cases per 100,000, while Clare’s has dropped to 308.

That means the county now has the 9th highest incidence rate in the country, compared to 3rd, almost a fortnight ago.

Five new cases of covid-19 were confirmed in this county last evening, the lowest daily figure in almost a month.
