The majority of traffic calming measures under the temporary Ennis Mobility Plan are to be lifted.

Clare County Council has confirmed the move following a meeting of the group behind the initiative last week.

The local authority says the relaxing of these measures is due to a combination of current public health guidelines, the return to school and outdoor dining.

Restrictions on traffic in Ennis town centre are to be lifted, though with a number of exceptions.

These will be from Monday to Friday between 11am and 2pm, and at weekends between 11am and 6pm until the end of September.

The lifting also won’t apply to Lower Parnell Street until the end of next month.

The Council says it’s also dissolved the taskforce behind the temporary Mobility Plan, saying it’s now ‘achieved its objectives’.

It’s thanking members of the public who contacted the local authority to give its feedback at various stages of the plan, and those who participated in the stakeholder group.

Separately, the Council says it looks forward to engaging with the public on the fuller Ennis mobility plan.

The lifting of the measures will be effective on August 30th.
