Between May 18th and June 2nd, the total number of COVID-19 cases rose by 55.

However, the HSE has confirmed to Clare FM that eight of these were new diagnoses, with the rest being attributed to Clare following reclassifications.

This week saw the total number of cases jump by nearly 50, but the vast majority of those cases had previously counted in the figures for Limerick.

The figures suggest that the spread of the disease here has been greatly reduced when compared with the height of the pandemic.

Despite the issues with this data, Chief medical officer Dr. Tony Holohan has said he’s not concerned about the revealed that as new information comes to light, revisions and reclassifications will be made to existing figures, but that the robustness of the data can still be trusted.
