Five New Cases Of Coronavirus In Clare While National Death Toll Surpasses 200

Five new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clare, while a further 36 people nationally have died as a result of the virus.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has confirmed that 345 new cases have been recorded across the Republic, meaning a total of 5,709 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus here, including 65 in Clare.

With the 36 additional deaths recorded, the death toll now stands at 210.

It’s the largest number of fatalities in a single day since the crisis began.

27 of the deaths came in the east of the country, which continues to bear the brunt of it in Ireland.

Six were reported in the north, with the remaining three in the south, while 24 had an underlying health condition.
