Localised HPSC figures show Ennis and its surrounding areas had 92 confirmed cases of the virus between the 20th of October and this past Monday, 2nd of November.

That’s 44% of Clare’s 208 confirmed cases within that timeframe.

It means Ennis’ incidence rate per 100,000 now stands at 297.6, above the national average of 228.0 – however, it has continued to fall over the last number of weeks.

All other areas in this county are seeing their figures go the right way as well – Shannon’s rate has more than halved in three weeks.

The Kilrush electoral area, whose rate only a few short weeks ago was among the highest in Munster, is now the lowest at Clare, at just 90.5 per 100,000.

Killaloe and Ennistymon’s areas rates have continued to fall modestly also, now standing at 146.3 and 119.4 respectively.

Clare GPs have expressed optimism that their demand for testing is falling this week, with the hope being that this will continue to be the case as level five restrictions take hold across the county and elsewhere.
