The President of Ennis Chamber says public health advice to work from home where possible is a ‘blow’ to the business sector.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Covid-19 will examine the recommendation from NPHET today due to the ongoing rise in cases in Clare and the rest of the country.

It’s also being recommended that people who frequently go to nightclubs, bars or restaurants take an antigen test twice a week.

A full Cabinet meeting will then be held tomorrow to approve any changes.

It comes as a further 3,805 cases were confirmed yesterday, while 596 covid patients were in hospital last night, and 106 are in ICU.

The Taoiseach, Micheál Martin has said reopening has clearly caused greater spread of the disease.

Ennis Chamber President Darragh McAllister believes businesses are in a better position now than previously to deal with work from home advice.
