The Ennistymon electoral area now has the highest rate of COVID-19 in Clare after 63 cases were confirmed there in the 14 days up to this past Monday.

Its rate stands at 384 per 100,000 people, which is around the national average figure.

While 91 cases diagnosed in the Shannon area see its rate at the second highest of Clare’s electoral areas at 299.4, that’s a drop of more than 25 percent compared to the same time last week.

Ennis has seen an even bigger drop, with 85 people diagnosed with COVID there in that 14 day period, compared to 138 for the two weeks prior.

Its figure sits at 275 per 100,000.

The prevalence of the virus continues to fall slowly in East Clare, with the Killaloe electoral area reporting an incidence rate of 268.5 after confirming 54 cases in two weeks.

The disease remains at the lowest rate in the county in West Clare, though 37 cases there mean its figure remains static at 176.2 per 100,000 people, which is less than half the national average.
